1938 Velocette GTP 250cc good runner with V5C - NO RESERVE
1938 VELOCETTE GTP The Velocette GTP was quite a revelation in the early 1930’s. In times of austerity whilst other manufacturers were producing some quite cheaply made machines Velocette kept their standards high and introduced this innovative development of their two-stroke range which boasted coil ignition and throttle metered oiling. The design is very robust and these plucky two-strokes make great pre-war classics these days as they are light, reliable, easy to start and go reasonably well too. This wonderful little machine was last on the road in 1977(there’s an old MOT & a tax disc). It starts well and sounds great. No strange mechanical noise. It rides well and stops well too. The bike comes with V5 registration certificate GPL 518 (non transferable reg). Frame number is GB6680T, engine number is GB6628 both numbers match the V5 & the old style green log book. Date of registration is given as 21st July 1938 . The bike is therefore eligible for HistoricClass (free) road tax and is pre-60 MOT exempt. Despite having been off the road since 1977 it has been looked after and kept dry safe over the years. It has basically an original unrestored look about it. The original mudguards are included but I think the allys really suit the bike and make it look like a mini Vincent! Note the tail section of the original rear mudguard is missing. Paint ...
