1959 Velocette Venom 500cc, a real beauty with original engine & frame!

1959 Velocette Venom 500cc Here is a beautiful example of one of the most sought after and desirable British singles - the Velocette Venom. This is a standard Venom, not Clubmanised, just nice and original. It is a very easy starter (just follow the normal Velo procedure) and it’s away. The engine runs beautifully. It sounds superb on the exhaust with that typical deep, mellow Velocette beat. There is no mechanical noise in evidence when running the engine stationary but some audible piston slap can be heard briefly in the low-end of the rev range when riding from cold. There is no smoke and the engine ticks over beautifully. The Smith’s Speedometer is working well, The Lucas 6Volt lighting is working well. New battery fitted, nice bright lights when revved. Gearbox and clutch are both set up perfectly. Brakes are also brilliant. This is a very rideable machine. It has a comfortable riding position and handles beautifully as is normal for Velocettes. It has clearly been set up well and is basically ready to go! The bike comes with a V5C registration document, registration OSJ 793 (cannot be transferred to another vehicle) Frame number RS13526 & engine number VM 3613 (These are the originals for the bike & the stampings on the frame & engine are the genuine factory stampings!) The bike wasn’t registered until 25th July 1962 (to Grierson & Graham, Dumfries, Scotland) but according to factory records (copy included) the bike left Velocette on 23rd November 1959.
