1976 Ducati 500 Gtl
This 1978 Ducati 500 GTL is simply stunning. Presented in original condition and imported from the USA with only 1700mis from new. We have re-conditioned the engine and she runs beautifully.
This is a rare machine depicting Ducati's engine development through the 70's. The engine was a big deal, being Ducati's 1st entirely new design in more than fifteen years. The design was compromised from the start with a need to control costs. The cylinders were canted forward ten degrees atop vertically split aluminium crankcases with the crankpins spaced at 180 degrees. The 500GTL (a 350 was also made for the Italian domestic market) was a valve spring engine with the single overhead cam acting on screw and locknut type adjusters.
