Seller's Note

Suzuki RG500 Classic Two Stroke

Let me start by telling you that this bike is a project bike and needs full recommissioning. It has no MOT and has not been used on the road for a few years and as you can see from the pictures, the bodywork needs some tlc and repairs so you should be prepared to paint the whole bike. I do have some replacement body panels including a brand new original Suzuki belly pan (all 3 pieces) and I am prepared to sell these by separate negotiation - they are NOT included in this sale. I will however include the service items I purchased including new air filter, oil, plugs, rear sprocket, new foam clock surround (worth £70) plus some other spares I have available. So, the good news. This is what I call an 'honest' bike. I bought it a few months ago full of good intentions to restore it, but new work commitments mean that I just won't get to it any time soon. By 'honest' I mean it's only had 5 owners, the last who owned it since 1992. This guy had the engine rebuilt at a cost of £1400 and then left the bike in storage, together with 160 other bikes he owned! Therefore, the engine starts second or third kick and runs really well. It will need proper running in and the carbs will need balancing to get the best from it. The clutch works fine but all brakes need bleeding and recommissioning to become roadworthy. So it runs great and from memory there are no bad marks on the frame. This bike has loads of potential and could be great with the right attention and of course a few pounds spent...
