Harris Matchless G80
Harris Matchless G80. These machines were produced by LF Harris of Devon who at the time were producing the Triumph Bonneville under licence for John Bloor. Harris bought the Matchless marque and manufactured the Matchless for a short run of approx. five years. The frame is a Harris production which carries the oil in the upper section. Engine is the Rotax 500cc, single overhead cam with balancer shaft. Twin port exhaust. Double Brembo front disc brake, Grimeca single leading rear drum brake. Paioli front suspension and rear struts. Hagon rear struts have replaced these. Electric and kick start. Radaelli wheel rims. Vegli instruments with Matchless logos. Seat has Matchless logo. Two models were made.. single front disc and kick start. Double front disc and electric and kick start. This is the double disc electric start version. Approx 900 bikes were made, 340 were electric start. So quite a rare machine. It rides very well. Starts easy even on the kick start. Easily cruises at 80 and is good on fuel. Unleaded. Air box replaced with correct factory type. Control box replaced. Starter motor and Spag clutch assembly replaced. Battery replaced. New speedo drive. I have the original silencer which is rust damaged. Gold star type fitted with extra baffles. Twin horns. Again I have the original single horn. Alarm fitted.
