Seller's Note

Yamaha GTS 1000 ABS UK exceptional condition low mileage

I am selling my much loved and cared for Yamaha GTS 1000A. She's for sale with Fin's Motorcycles and can be found on Biketrader, but as her current owner I thought I give a bit of information about her. In Summer 2013 I saw a very unusual bike while holidaying in Austria. I had never seen one before and I fell in love with the classic 90ies lines. I felt that I had to have one and after a lot of looking around I found a pretty decent one and bought her in that September. I bought her from her first owner. He had bought her in 1993, he had been there at the launch party and like me had fallen in love with her. He was about to retire and so he bought her as a treat for himself. In 1993 the GTS 1000A was Yamaha's flagship bike and had all the latest tech. Fuel injection, ABS, hub-centre steering and a catalytic converter. It was also an incredibly expensive bike, she sold for more than £10,000, that's £20,000 in today's money! Because us bikers don't adapt new tech at all rapidly, together with the high price, resulted in generally pretty low sales and Yamaha discontinued the range after only a few years. Hence these bikes are incredibly rare and also sought after (among those who know about them anyway). Back to her story. The first owner treated her very well and only rode her on special occasions. She was only ever fed the best unleaded fuel and she was never once ridden in the rain. He stopped riding her around 2006 when he physically had more and more troubles handling her....
