1950 Matching Numbers Vincent Touring Rapide - Superbly Original + Unmolested Seldom do Vincents like this become available. Prior to me purchasing this machine from Bonhams in November 2012 the bike has been in single ownership since 1962, and prior to that she had one owner from new. Since I acquired the bike she has undergone A professional sympathetic phase of recommissioning which has included Gearbox, Clutch, Magneto and Engine top end rebuilds, New front Carb, New S/S Spokes, refurbished seat, Some rechroming. All in all I have kept the machine as original as possible There are a few deviations from standard including up-Rated Shadow front brake, heavy duty clutch and a factory fitted Avon Fairing. Upon acquiring the Rapide I was informed by the VOC (which I am a member of) that there were a handful of touring Rapides fitted with an "Avon" Fairing in the Vincent factory and that this is one of them. In fact each panel is stamped "Vin" This is obviously the Touring Rapide model with heavily valanced mudguards. touring Rapides are exceptionally rare models. I do wonder if this was an early Vincent stab at a fully enclosed Vincent. The Vincent Black Knight was of course launched in 1954 and was essentially a fully enclosed Vincent Rapide (Machines that now fetch £80,000+) The machine comes with A Vincent owners club certificate of authenticity, Old style log book, Swansea V5C in my name, original hand pump, Vincent tool, manual + spares book.
