VELOSOLEX 3800 Luxe Model
1968 Velo Solex Luxe model. This bike was purchased in a French garage sale in 2009 and brought to the UK soon after. On inspection it became clear that the frame would benefit from dis-assembly, cleaning and that some mechanical issues resulting from a long period in storage needed looking at I also discovered that for some unknown reason the bike is fitted with a 2200 rather than 3800 engineI guess it must have been swapped sometime in the past, long before I got it. I gather this is not uncommon and am pleased to report that the 2200 engine works fine During the renovation time I fixed everything that needed attention, includingFrame taken fully apart, cleaned, painted and re-assembledNew rim on frontNew tyres front and rearNew brake cables front and rearNew brake blocks on front (rear shoes were OK)New ignition points, condenser and plugNew fuel pump diaphragm and filtersFull decoke and new head and manifold gasketsSorted out the lights - they are working properly.Renovation was completed mid 2010 - first photo was taken at that time. The remaining photos were taken today (Colour change is lighting / camera)The bike still is blue as per the original photo The bike is totally complete - no parts missing and all are, I believe, authentic and correctI paid for a dating certificate during 2010 and registered it in UK in my name in November 2010.
