1968 VELOCETTE VENOM THRUXTON Here is a genuine 1968 Velocette Thruxton. According to the factory records it left the factory on 31st July 1968 and was supplied to the famous Wileman’s of Derby. It retains its original engine, frame and gearbox and this is backed up with a Velocette Thruxton Machine Register report supplied by Ray Thurston. The bike is a genuine low mileage (only 7866 recorded), unrestored example with a known history and one owner since the mid 70’s. It has an old style green log book and a V5 document with its original registration PUT503G. Frame number RS 19705, engine number VMT 789, gearbox number 12-12818. Date of registration is 3rd December 1968. So I expect the bike was drooled over in Wileman’s show room on many a Saturday afternoon in 1968. (Wileman’s was a real focal point for motorcycle enthusiasts back in the day!) This bike has always remained local to me , Derby, Uttoxeter, Burton on Trent. Make no mistake, this is the genuine article. There’s plenty of reps about and bikes with non matching engine / frames. This is the real deal! Cosmetically the bike is generally good for a bike that has been standing so long. The paint on the frame is the original and is mostly very good with just some light rust spots in places. The petrol tank is steel and is in excellent order with original paint & lines. There is a very minor dent to the front of the tank on the left side, hardly noticeable, otherwise it’s perfect having been dry stored. Wheel rims are ...
