Seller's Note

Kawasaki ER5 Motorcycle 97 P reg 'Red'

This ER5 has been off the road for a few years. Last turned over summer '14. I was hoping to get it back on the road then but never had the time to do the basics. Old Red was stored indoors until last summer, and has now completed a winter outside in the west of Scotland. It is an injustice to let a machine like this rot so I am biting the bullet and selling. Old Red has done me well. We've been to the North West 200 bike races in Norn Iron, we've been to Glastonbury Festival and we've toured round some of the Islands in the West of Scotland. Not bad for a commuter motorcycle. The thing is, I am not giving Red the love she deserves. She has patches of corrosion on her chrome and some of her alloy has surface corrosion too. The chain is a disgrace there are cobwebs hiding here and there and she needs filters and oil all changed out. I'll chuck in whatever fluids I have for her if you want to make her go again. I did ride her into the side door of a Mercedes in 2005. Can't thank that driver enough for not seeing me! I rebuilt the forks, she passed her MOT and was back on the road in no time and we subsequently had a few more years of fun. Her last proper ride out was taking me, my other half and our then unborn eldest daughter island hopping so she's been off the road for about 5 years. The first 4 of those Red was kept indoors. Whoever buys will need a trailer to take her away. I did buy a new battery last year to turn her over but I guess it might have had it with the winter ...
