1998 KAWASAKI ER 500-A2
I bought this bike for commuting five months ago and it has been a very reliable and comfortable workhorse. Its a slim bike, lightwieght, confotable and smooth which makes it ideal as a learner or coummuter. The 500cc paralel twin Kawasaki engine is well proven and you can find examples with 50k+ mileage around. It has the advantage of a balancer shaft which eliminates unpleasant vibrations and makes riding at motorway speeds efortless. Power delivery is very predicatable and combined with the low seat height and upright riding position this bike is a favorite with many riding schools. It is a very low mileage bike documented by past MOT's and I have done about 800 miles on it. It has been resprayed by a previous owner in metallic grey, that's why there are no markings on the tank and side panels. As you can see from the photos there are some marks and scrapes but overall it looks pretty good for its age. When I bought the bike the regulator had failed and so Ive fitted a new reg rectifier and new battery and also changed the brake caliper for a reconditioned unit with new pads.
